John Wieland Homes - Embarrassed I Referred a Friend

I had a wonderful experience when purchasing my home. Since closing, I have had multiple issues and the responses I’ve received have been poor at best. I’ve had to have the hot water heater fixed, the refrigerator replaced, 3 1/2 hours of work on July 4th done on the air conditioning unit, and the carpet in both the loft and one of my upstairs bedrooms is now coming a part “both areas are completely unused at the point”. Your emergency help line is completely worthless and I will not waste my time with that moving forward. I can honestly say, that I’m displeased with the experience since ...

Poor quality - stairway baseboard damage throughout, sloppy paint throughout, stairway railing damage through drywall, drywall dust ingrained into hardwood floors, black burn spots in bathroom mirror, misaligned vent hood, uneven range door, red spot stains on stair treads, glue paste on tile floors (had to pay third party to clean), backsplash tile is curved at bottom (not cut flush). Some of the issues have been addressed however the stairway molding and stringers are unbelievably bad. Not only has the molding been padded with putty ubiquitously to “resolve” but the stairway stringers bow ...

We have had leaking basement. Leaking irrigation system that cost us hundreds extra in water bill. Wood stairs that had spots on them. They tried to sand them and repaint them but still not great. Builder came across like he cared at first but didn’t repair things he said he would in the end. Grout in master bath was wrong color and now repair can’t be made because grout won’t match and they don’t know what color it is to match. Multiple cases where I stayed home for work to meet someone for repair and no one showed up or called.

Not the best buying experience frankly. Felt as if the sales and construction team weren’t in sync and a major issue wasn’t handled properly. Do not recommend and have steered several local friends away.

Problems aside from Covid and material supply problems, our eight-month construction process was filled with delays, failures to pass inspections, allocation of needed windows to other nearby homes and inadequate followup on problems at closing and overall poor communication marred our construction experience with our beautiful home.

Although I love my home and enjoy the space, location, layout and environment fully, I'm disappointed at the responsiveness from Pulte. Several promises were made that issues identified during inspection would be fixed just after closing and nothing has been addressed despite many requests. Selling the homes is clearly the priority but standing by promises takes a back seat. If these things could be addressed in a timely way, I would have given my experience 5 stars.

Original projected date of completion was Nov 2018; we didn't close until April 2019 so ended up extending our stay in an apartment far longer than expected. Project was mismanaged for the first 6 months, then a rush job thereafter. Even after closing the first month and a half was dedicated to dealing with poor workmanship. Our master shower leaked into the kitchen below the morning after closing. After two weeks of walking through my daughter's bedroom at 5AM for two weeks to take a shower before work, we contacted the some VPs in the warranty group and finally got some progress. Air ...

I like the location I bought in, I like the design(minor things I would change) of the home. The representatives from Pulte were professional but I felt that they were overwhelmed with scope of the project. I had several punch list items. They were not addressed until I made several calls to upper management. Bottom line, I believe that there are not enough line workers to handle the day to day operation.

It took far too long to complete the build. The Sub Contractors used to build this townhome were not up to par at all. We watched other townhome projects going up around us, from start to finish, while our Pulte build went along at a snails pace. We purchased for the location, and the floor plan, only regret is the quality of the build.

We have identified several issues upon move in that are problems. It is so difficult to get any response at all. We’re literally stuck at how to get a response. Furthermore, your company is very inflexible about hours they will come with strict rule that they will never come after 4 on weekdays...this is hard for folks with high-demand jobs.

Field manager unable to keep appointments. Repair items take a while to get fixed. Items that should have been addressed before closing remained after closing.Construction continues from in the dark before 6:15 in the morning to 11:15 at night for plumbers and landscapers which disturb current residents that are living in the subdivision. Craftsmanship of my $1m townhome is disgraceful to say the least. I’m 30 days post closing and the builder still has 15 things to fix. My whole row was done poorly and we all are waiting for Pulte to step up. I was giving promises that it would get fixed and all I feel is regret.

The home entry way steps are dangerously constructed. The list of items to be completed before sign-off was totally ignored. Since we bought the house in June we’ve had nothing but issues. I’ve lived here for now over six weeks and I’ve had numerous issues with the house. Once the house is sold and turned over it seems that they don’t care about the issues and they seem to make you feel like will get around to the issues when we can. Justin has been great and so easy to work with. But he’s only a one man show for numerous projects.
