I wouldn’t purchase a home from Richmond again

To know what I know now I would have made a different choice in purchasing a new home. Quality of materials Craftsmanship Responsiveness to issues Are all the reasons I would have chosen another builder. I do believe the people who work at Richmond (for the most part) want to do the right thing; however, they are hindered by turn over, horrible contractors and bottom of the barrel materials. This isn’t my first new home purchase from Richmond. Maybe it’s just the community I live in that has these issues. However, I shouldn’t have to overcome turn over and bad contractor ...

My experience has been bad from the start. We originally wanted to design our own house but the lot we wanted “wasn’t available yet” so we decided on a pre approved plan. It was also on a corner and the bedroom and larger side of the yard was on the corner side away from the neighbors. We were assured this is the exact layout of the house we were buying and happy with our purchase. Then They built it “flopped” or reverse so now it’s jammed against the wall, our bedroom and large side is against the neighbors. This is exactly what I didn’t want. We were told by Gina, in the fine print the ...

Our experience with Richmond American Homes has been a mixed bag. The response time for repairs is generally prompt, with issues being addressed within a week, which is commendable. However, our buying experience was marred by the incompetence and unhelpfulness of our sales representative. There were instances where my family felt discriminated against, which left a sour taste in our mouths. On the positive side, the home itself is indeed beautiful, located in a gated community comprised of around 31 homes. This sense of exclusivity fosters a community spirit among homeowners, encouraging ...

Messy Process

Overall, this was a messy process especially for first time home buyers. The amount of documentation we needed to provide and explained at times seemed very excessive. Just wasn't a smooth or exciting experience. We ended up getting through it and in the end we love the home we bought, but the process overall was not pleasant and at times we felt like quitting. That said, there are people who we interacted with especially after the process who really stand out and made landing in the new home a great experience. The customer service we've received post service has been incredible and top ...

Sales person, not the one we were talking with, made fun of us as we walked out the door after spending a hour going over lot choices, model selection, and down payment. Sales man we worked with lied on several occasions . Financial department wanted us to submit a document that we and they knew was fraudulent at their request. Head of department later said we would have been approved for our loan had we submitted the fraudulent document.

Horrible experience with these people! Paperwork was constantly being emailed to us for things that had already been done and when we called about it we were told someone else was reviewing it and send it again and again and again!! As for quality of work. Non of my windows are level which makes purchasing window coverings a nightmare. They promise that if there’s problems that you find after move in we should let them know at the 1 month post inspection. That was six weeks ago and when you ask about it no one seems to have an answer as to when it will be done. As far as I’m concerned they’re ...

Make sure all sales incentives are reflected correctly prior to closing. Sales team is non-responsive even if matters are included and followed up on in writing with the lender, Gallery, escrow and Sales representatives. I purchase this home with Richmond because of the reputation and quality of the homes, I love my home. Will I buy again from Richmond American? NO! Richmond loan officer was very difficult to work with. Had to wait long periods of time to get responses. Total home purchasing took 3.5 months. Would have liked a definite answer. My overall experience with Richmond American Homes was awful. The process with their preferred lender was a headache with repeating step after step of the same thing and resending the same documents once already sent. I have had issues trying to make my first payment because they do not tell you where to go to pay it and I have finally figured it out on my own but then my monthly payment is incorrect from what is on my paperwork. My house closed 7 weeks ago and I have yet to get a bathroom door which has been promised multiple times. When we closed on the house, the house was not finished but ...
