Batavia is a quiet village located a half-hour east of Cincinnati, the state's third-largest city. Encompassing about 1.5 square miles on land along the Appalachian Highway (Route 32), Batavia is surrounded by Batavia Township and is the county seat of Clermont County. In addition to State Route 21, which connects Cincinnati to Southern Ohio's rural communities, Route 132 and 222 pass through downtown Batavia. Clermont Steel Fabricators, a manufacturer of roller coasters and other steel fabrication products, is still located in Batavia. Batavia is also the home of the Clermont College, a regional campus of the University of Cincinnati.
